Solution :

To Find :-

Amount (weight) of oxygen in 2.5 moles of water

Concept :-

▪ Chemical formula of water = H2O

▪ Molecular weight of water = 2(H) + 1(O) = 2(1) + 1(16) = 2+16 =18g/mol

▪ We know that, 1 mole of water contains 16g of oxygen.

Calculation :-

1 mole H2O = 16g of oxygen

2.5 moles of H2O = (?)

▪ Weight of oxygen = 2.5 × 16

Weight of oxygen in 2.5 moles of water = 40g

Additional information :-

✒ 1 mol of H2O contains 6.022 × 10^{23} molecules of H2O

✒ Volume of 1 mol of H2O at STP = 22.4L = 22400ml

✒ Hybridisation of H2O = sp^3

✒ Shape of H2O molecule = 'V' shape
