so according to first condition

x square-y square=120 (1)

according to the second condition

y square=2x (2)

so x square-2x=120 from (1) and (2)

ie x square-2x-120=0

ie x square-12x+10x-120=0

so x(x-12)+10(x-12)=0

ie (x-12)(x+10)=0

ie x=12 or x=-10

but as it is said that two numbers are positive numbers x=-10 is absurd

therefore x=12

substituting value of x in (2)

we get y=root 24

hence the two numbers are 12 and root 24
