The total quantity of motion possessed by a moving body is known as the momentum of the body. It is the product of the mass and velocity of a body.

\implies{\sf \overrightarrow{p}=m\overrightarrow{v} }

\implies{\sf 16=8v }

\implies{\sf  v =\dfrac{16}{8}}

\implies{\sf v =2\:m/s}

Body is travelling with velocity \color{red}{\sf 2m/s}

 \mathtt{\huge{ \fbox{Solution :)}}}

Given ,

  • Mass (m) = 8 kg
  • Momentum (p) = 16 kg•m/s

We know that ,

The product of mass and velocity is called momentum

  \large \mathtt{\fbox{Momentum  \: (p) =mass  \times velocity  }}

Thus ,

16 = 8 × velocity

velocity = 16/8

velocity = 2 m/s

Hence , the velocity of ball is 2 m/s
