An 80 meter rope is cut into 2 pieces given the ratio of 5:15. How long is the longer rope?

length of the rope=80m

ratio:5/15=1/3

clearly the longer rope is 3 times the short one

hence 3x+x=80

4x=80

x=20

hence the length of the longer rope is 3x=3×20=60

Required answer=60
