An A.C. supply of frequency 1000 and 110 volts is connected across a circuit containing a resistance of 10 ohms, an inductance of 1 milli-henry and a capacity of 1 microfarad. Find the value of the current. What must be the value of the capacity in order that the current may be maximum ?

Answer:

An inductance of 1 henry is in a series with a capacitance of 1 microfarad. What is the impedance of the circuit when the frequency is 50 hertz and 1000 hertz?

On-premise and cloud data protection in times of uncertainty.

Inductive reactance X[L] = 2 x Pi x f x L =

At 50 Hz 2 x 3.14 x 50 x 1 = 314 Ohms

At 1000 Hz : 2 x 3.14 x 1000 x1 = 6280 Ohms

Capacitive Reactance = 1/(2 x pi x f x C )

At 50 hz ; 1 /( 2 x 3.14 x 50 x 1 x 10^-6) = = 0,0032 x 10^6 = 3200 Ohms

At 1000 Hz = 1/

( 2 x 3.14 x 1000 x 1 x 10^-6) = 0.00016 x 10^6 = 160 Ohms

The capacitive Reactance is negative and hence subtracted

At 50 hz Z = 314 - 3200 = -2886 Ohms

At 1000 hz Z = 6280 - 160= 6120 Ohms

Note : In j component notation we take root of Squares
