Frequency is nothing but number of cycles per second.Here an alternating current of 50Hz is given so,that we can easily say it is completing 50cycles in one second,One cycle is said to be the combination of positive half cycle and negative half cycle here in 50 cycles there will be 50positive and 50negative half cycle i.e 100 times it is changing its sign.
