An acid is - Neutralise - by a base.
In chemistry, we learnt that an acid is very active and disassociate H+ ion wheras base disassociates OH- ion. Therefore they react with each other to form salt and water, which is known as neutralisation reaction.
The process in which an acid reacts with a base to form salt and water is known as neutralisation reaction. The salt is a new product which formed from parent acid and base.
