Aim: To prove that more is the air column lower is the frequency
Apparatus required:Four Test tubes, water
Procedure :1.Take a test tube
2.Blow air over its mouth by putting lower lip to the mouth of test tube.
3. Observe the sound produced. We can hear the low hooter type sound.
4. Add some water and blow again.
5. The sound gets shriller.Because the frequency of vibrating air column increases with the decreasing length of the air column inside the tube.
6. A stage may come where if we further reduce the air column, the sound may not be heard. This is the point of highest pitch.
Conclusion:
As air column length decreases the frequency of vibrating air column increases and pitch of sound also increases.
