Esterification:

Take ethanoic acid and ethanol in two beakers.
heat ethanoic acid with ethanol in presence of a few drops of concentrated sulphuric acid
you will observe that a sweet smellingester called ethyl ethanoate is formed.

The reaction can be shown as:

CH3COOH +C2H5OH ------>CH3COOC2H5+H20

ethyl ethanoate
