Answer:

Materials needed:

Dettol, Beakers/Containers, Water, Small Cup (10ml)

Aim: To prove that particles of matter are very small in size.

Procedure:

1) Fill a 100ml beaker with water, add 1 tablespoon of Dettol. Mix thoroughly. See if you smell the scent of Dettol, if you do, note it down.

2) Take another beaker, Fill it with 90ml of water, take the small cup and take 10ml of Dettol water from the previous beaker and put it into the second beaker, if you smell Dettol, note it down.

3) Take another beaker with 90ml water, take 10ml from the previous beaker and mix it in the third beaker. Note if you detect the smell.

4) Repeat this until you can no longer detect the smell.

Observation: You will find that it takes lot of repetition for the smell to disappear.

Result: The reason that the smell goes this far is because the particles of matter (here, scent) are very small and even a small amount of matter (like 10ml) contains millions of particles.

Hope it helped!
