Normally, assuming you have little knowledge of vector

From mathematics (taking 1m north as +1i, 1m south would be -1i and taking upwards 1m as +1j, downwards would be -1j),

Airplane moved 400i, then (-300i) and 1200j.

So, net displacement(D)=400i+(−300i)+1200j=100i+1200j400i+(−300i)+1200j=100i+1200j

now, magnitude if displacement= sqrt(1002+12002)=1204.16msqrt(1002+12002)=1204.16m
