An aeroplane flies from A to B at 500 km per hour and comes back from B to A at the rate of 700 km per hour. Find the average speed of the aeroplane?

Let the distance between A to B be x.

Therefore Average speed = Total Distance travelled/ Total time taken.

Speed = Distance/ Time

Therefore, Time = Distance/speed

Therefore, time from A to B = x/500

And, time from B to A = x/ 700

Total time = x/500 + x/700 = 12x/3500

And total distance = 2x

Average speed = 2x/12x/3500 = 3500/6 = 583.4 kmph
