Answer:

Time taken to cover 60 miles = 80 min = 43

hrs

∴ Speed of the train = (60×34)

mph = 45 mph

Speed of the aeroplane = (2 × 45) mph = 90 mph

Distance covered by the aeroplane in 60 min = 90 miles

Distance covered by the aeroplane in 20 min :

= (9060×20)

miles

= 30 miles

Given : An aeroplane flies twice as fast as a train which covers 60 kilometers in 80 minutes.

To Find :  What distance (in kilometers) will the aeroplane cover in 20 minutes

Solution:

a train  covers 60 kilometers in 80 minutes

=> train covers distance in 80 minutes = 60 km

An aeroplane flies twice as fast

=> aeroplane covers distance in 80 minutes = 60 * 2  km

=> aeroplane covers distance in 80 minutes = 120  km

=> aeroplane covers distance in 1 minutes = 120/80  km

=> aeroplane covers distance in 1 minutes = 3/2  km

=> aeroplane covers distance in 20 minutes = 20 * 3/2  km

=> aeroplane covers distance in 20 minutes = 30   km

the aeroplane cover in 20 minutes  is 30 km
