Speed of aeroplane,u = 216 km/h=216x5/18=60 m/s

Height,h=490m

Let R be the horizontal distance.

we know,

r = u \sqrt{ \frac{2h}{g} }  \\  = 60 \sqrt{ \frac{2 \times 490}{9.8} }  \\ = 60 \times  \sqrt{100}  \\  = 60 \times 10 \\  = 600m

Hence the horizontal distance is 600m.
