there is an easy way of every thing
so let's see
divide 600 with 5
u will get 120
which means plane consume 120 litre petrol every minute
we have to find petrol consumed in 18 minutes so multiply 120 by 18
you get 2160 litres

=> So, the PROPORTION:

=> 600 : 5 : ❓ : 18

=> Mean × Mean terms= Extreme × Extreme terms

=> 5×❓ = 600 × 18

=> 5❓= 10800

=> ❓ = 10800 ÷ 5

=> ❓ = 2160 liters

therefore 2160 litres is needed to cover 18 minutes distance.
