An aeroplane, which together with its load has a
mass M=9600kg, is falling with an acceleration of
a=5 m/s2. If a part of the load equal to m kg be
thrown out, the aeroplane will begin to rise with an
acceleration of a= 5 m/s2. Find the value of m?
(A) 6400
(B) 6450
(C) 6600

Given that,

Total mass = 9600 kg

Acceleration a = 5 m/s²

Load = m

According to given data,

An aeroplane, which together with its load has total mass

M+m=9600\ kg

M=9600-m

We need to calculate the value of m

Using balance equation

mg=(2M+m)a

Put the value in the equation

mg=(2(9600-m)+m)a

m\times10=(19200-m)\times5

10m+5m=19200\times5

m=\dfrac{19200\times5}{15}

m=6400\ kg

Hence, The value of m is 6400 Kg.
