To find :   the amount of his cash sales and credit sales

Solution:

Let say Cash  Sale  =   C

Credit Sale = 4000 - C  Rs

Commission on Cash Sale = 80 %

= (80/100)C  = 4C/5  Rs

Commission on Credit Sale = 3 %

= (3/100)(4000-C)   = 120  - 3C /100  Rs

4C/5    + 120  - 3C /100   =  300

=> 4C/5  - 3C /100 = 180

=> 77C  = 18000

=>  C = 18000/77 =  233.77

4000 -C =  3,766.23

Cash Sale = 233.77 RS

Credit Sale = 3,766.23  Rs
