Given :- An agent remits to his employer 26,900 after deducting. 5% commision on first 8,000 and 3% commission on the remaining sales. Calculate the price of goods sold by him. ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that the price of goods sold by him is Rs. x .

so,

→ Commission on first 8000 = 8000 * 5/100 = Rs.400

and,

→ commission on remaining sales = (x - 8000) * (3/100) = Rs. 0.03(x - 8000)

now,

→ Total commission earned = Price of goods - Amount remits .

→ (x - 26900) = 400 + 0.03(x - 8000)

→ x - 26900 = 400 + 0.03x - 240

→ x - 0.03x = 160 + 26900

→ 0.97x = 27060

→ x ≈ Rs.27896.90 (Ans.)
