An agricultural field is in the form of a rectangle of length 20 m and width 7 m. A 10 m deep well of diameter 3.5 m is dug in a corner of the field and the earth taken out of the well is spread evenly over the remaining part of the field. Find the rise in its level.

volume of well =volume of earth level rise in the field

pi.r^2.h=length x breadth x height

22/7 x 7/2 x 7/2 x 10=20 x 14 x height

11 x 7 x 5=20 x14 x height

height =11/8 m

hence 11/8m level rise in the field
