An aircraft travelling at 600 km/h accelerates steadily at 10 km/h per second. Taking the speed of sound
1100 km/h at the aircraft's altitude, how long will it take to reach the 'sound barrier'?

Explanation:

hey

to reach the sound barrier required velocity should be 1100km/h

so,

v=1100km/h==305.5 m/sec

u=600km/h=166.6 m/sec

a= 10km/h per sec.=50/18 m/sec^2 (convert 10 km/h into m/sec then multiply 1/sec)

a=50/18 m/sec^2 = 2.7 m/ sec^2

v=u+at

=> (v-u)/a = t

=> t = (305.5-166.6)/2.7

=> t =138.9/2.7 sec

=> t = 51.44 sec ( aprox)
