Question:-

  • An aircraft travelling at 600km/h accelerates steadily at 10 km/h per second. Taking the speed of sound as 1100 km/h at the aircraft's altitude, how long will it take to reach the sound barrier'?

To Find:-

  • Find the time taken to reach the sound barrier.

Solution:-

Given ,

  • initial velocity ( u ) = 600 km/h

  • final velocity ( v ) = 1100 km/h

  • acceleration ( a ) = 600 km/h²

Now ,

We have to find the time taken to reach the sound barrier:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: v = u + at

\dashrightarrow\sf \: 1100 = 600 + 600t

\dashrightarrow\sf \: 600t = 1100 - 600

\dashrightarrow\sf \: 600t = 500

\dashrightarrow\sf \: t = \cancel\dfrac { 500 } { 600 }

\dashrightarrow\sf \: t = \dfrac { 5 } { 6 }

Hence ,

  • The taken is 5/6 hours.
