Given : An airline offers the same number of tickets for the morning and night flights

ratio for the number of sold tickets to the number of unsold tickets was 3:5 on the morning flights and 7:1 on the night flights

airline sells 644 tickets on the night flights,

To Find : how many unsold tickets can the airline expect on the morning flights

Solution:

airline sells 644 tickets on the night flights

ratio for the number of sold tickets to the number of unsold tickets  in night  = 7  : 1

=> 7/( 7 + 1)  * tickets =  644

=> tickets = 736

airline offers the same number of tickets for the morning and night flights.

ratio for the number of sold tickets to the number of unsold tickets in morning was 3:5

unsold tickets can the airline expect on the morning flights   = (5/8) * 736

= 460

unsold tickets on  the morning flights = 460
