We know that it is very difficult or near to impossible to draw large distances on paper with their exact values.

But, to represent the larger distances on paper, we use scaling.

We use a scaling factor such that the exact larger distance can be represented on paper.

For example, in the given question we are given that

scale of 1cm means 100m actual distance.

Let us use unitary method to solve this problem:

i.e.

100m actual distance = 1 cm on scale

1m actual distance = $\frac{1}{100}$ cm on scale

450m actual distance = $\frac{1}{100} \times 450\ cm = 4.5\ cm$ cm on scale

So, length 450m on scale is 4.5 cm.
