an alien spaceship is 500m above the ground and moving at a constant velocity of 150m/s upwards. How high above the ground is the ship after 5 seconds?

The spaceship is moving upwards at a constant velocity.

It means it is not accelerating.

We can write the equation of its motion as follows.

Given that it is already 500m above the ground and that the velocity is constant, at any given time t the distance above the ground will be:

S = 150t + 500

Now at t= 5

S = 150 × 5 + 500 = 1250 m
