An Alkene (A) on ozonolysis gives acetone and aldehyde . The aldehyde is oxidised to(B). (B) on treatment with Br2 in the presence of Phosphorous gives compound (C), which on further hydrolysis gives(D).(D) can also be produced from acetone by treatment with HCN followed by acid hydrolysis .
