An alloy contains only zinc and copper and they are in the ration of 7:9. If the weight of the alloy is 8 kg, then find the weight of copper in the alloy.​

Let's take x as the common factor.

7x:9x

Now add the numbers

7x + 9x

= 16x

1 kg is 1000 grams

So 8 kg = 8000 grams

Now divide 8000 by 16x

16x = 8000

x = 8000/16

x = 500

So x is 500 grams

Now to find the ratios of the element, multiply them by x

7 : 9

Zinc is 7

So 7 * 500

= 3500 grams or 3.5 kg

Copper is 9

So 9 * 500

= 4500 grams or 4.5 kg
