Question:

An alloy is made for nickel and tungsten in the ratio 3:5. how much nickel is there in 2.4kg of this alloy.

To find:

Weight of nickel in alloy.

\bold{Answer:}

Explanation:

Alloy of nickel  and tungsten is in the ratio 3:5.

So , we can take the ratio as 3x and 5 x,

Weight of the alloy is 2.4 kg,

Convert kg to grams : 2400  grams,

Hence: 3x+5x=2400,

8x=2400,

\bold{x=\frac{2400}{8} },

x=300.

So:

  • Nickel: 3x = 3(300) = 900 grams
  • Tungsten: 5x = 5(300)= 1500 grams.

Verification:

3x+5x=2400,

900+1500=2400,

2400=2400(L.H.S=R.H.S).

Hence, 900 grams of  Nickel is present in nickel and tungsten alloy.
