Given,

An alloy of copper and zinc contains 45% of copper.

Rest of the alloy contains zinc.

The weight of the given amount of alloy is 2 kilograms.

To find,

The weight of the zinc in the given amount of alloy.

Solution,

Let,the total amount of alloy = 100%

So,the amount of zinc in the alloy = 100% - amount of copper = 100% - 45% = 55%

Now,we have to calculate the weight of zinc in the given amount of alloy,by using the following mathematical formula,

Amount of zinc = Weight of total alloy × Percentage of zinc/100 = 2 × 55/100 = 1.1 kilograms

Hence, there is 1.1 kilograms of zinc in the given amount of alloy.
