Given :-

weight of alloy = 39 kg ( containing zinc and copper )

ratio of copper : zinc = 4 : 9

Need to find :-

weight of zinc

Procedure :-

weight of alloy = 39 kg ( given )

ratio of copper : zinc = 4 : 9 ( given )

let the constant ratios be x

4 : 9 = 4x : 9x

4x + 9x = 39

13x = 39

x = \frac{39}{13}

x = 3 kg

value of zinc = 9x = 9 × 3 = 27 kg

Conclusion :-

Therefore, the alloy contains 27 kg of zinc.
