Marked Price = Rs 4000

Selling Price = 3700

Discount = Marked Price - Selling Price

=> Discount = 4000 - 3700 = 300

Hence Discount = Rs 300

Discount % = Discount / Marked Price * 100 %

=> Discount % = 300 / 4000 * 100

=> Discount % = 30000 / 4000 = 30 / 4 = 7.5 %

Hence Discount percent = 7.5 %

Question: An almirah of market price for rupees 4000 is sold for rupees 3700 after allowing discount. Find the rate of discount?

Answer:

Market price = 4000

Selling price = 3700

Discount amount = Market price - Selling price

                            = 4000 - 3700

                            = 300

Rate of discount = Discount amount * 100

                                  Market price

                               = 300 * 100

                                 4000

                             = 30

                                4

                             = 7.5 %
