An alternating current is given by the equation i= i₁ cos ω t + i₂ sin ω t.The r.m.s. current is given by

(c)  \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}} (i^2_1+i^2_2)^{1/2}
(d)  \frac{1}{2} (i^2_1+i^2_2)^{1/2}
