Let the base be X

Then altitude = 5/3 X

New altitude = (5X+12)/3

New base = X-3

:-) 5X^2/6= (5X^2-3X -36)/6

:-) 3X=36

:-) X=12

Hence,base is 12cm and altitude is 20cm.

Answer:

hey buddy here's your answer

Step-by-step explanation:

let the base be y

then the altitude is 5/3y

new altitude will be (5y+12)/3

new base will be y - 3

  • 5y^2/6 =(5y^2-3y-36)/6
  • then 3y =36
  • y=2

so base is 12cm and altitude will be 20cm
