Given - mass of aluminium - 200g

Volume of water - 0.5l

Initial temperature - 25° C

Final temperature - 75° C

Find - Q or heat required to raise the temperature

Answer -

Mass of aluminium in kilogram will be - 0.2kg

Mass of water in kilogram will be - 0.5kg

Specific heat capacity of water is -

4186 J/kgºC

Specific heat capacity of aluminium is - 900 J/kgºC

To calculate the heat required, the formula used will be -

Q = mc∆t

Here, q is heat required, m denotes mass, c is specific heat capacity, ∆t is change in temperature

Heat required for aluminium vessel and water will be calculated seperately and then it will be added.

For aluminium-

Q = 0.2*900* 50

Q = 9000 J or 9 kJ

For water-

Q = 0.5*4186*50

Q = 104650 J or 105kJ

Total Q = 105+9 = 114 kJ

Therefore, total heat required is - 114kJ
