Ratios

Given

An amount of $180 is shared among three people in ratio of x : y : z. Here, x = 3, y = 1 and z = 11.

To Find

Smallest Share shared among three people.

Solution

Let 'x' be a common multiple in given ratios.

So, ratio becomes,

3x : x : 11x

So, the share shared among three people are 3x, x and 11x.

Sum of all share = $180

3x + x + 11x = $180

15x = $180

x = $180 / 15

x = $12

So,

Money shared by three people are,

3x = 3 × $12 = $36

x = 1 × $12 = $12

11x = 11 × $12 = $132

So, smallest share is $12.

Answer

So, smallest share shared among three people is $12 which is option B.
