An amount of Rs. 12,000 is to be shared between Irfan and Antonio in the ratio 2:4. Find the shares of

Irfan and Antonio.​

Here, we are given with the total amount that should be divided by two people in the ratio of 2:4. We have to find the amount that each of them will get. Here, we will use some other concepts such as variables and also the numbers should be shifted from one hand side to the other which is called as transportation of numbers. We should remember that while shifting the numbers, the sign of the numbers should be changed. So, let's solve!!

${\tt \leadsto 2 : 4 = 12000}$

Insert a variable x to both part of ratios.

${\tt \leadsto 2x + 4x = 12000}$

Add both values on LHS, as they have same variable.

${\tt \leadsto 6x = 12000}$

Shift the number 6 from LHS to RHS, changing it's sign.

${\tt \leadsto x = \dfrac{12000}{6}}$

Simplify the fraction to get the value of x.

${\tt \leadsto x = 2000}$

Money obtained to Irfan :-

${\tt \leadsto 2x = 2 \times 2000}$

${\tt \leadsto Rs \: \: 4000}$

Money obtained to Antonio :-

${\tt \leadsto 4x = 4 \times 2000}$
