An angiospermic plant has to produce 88 viable ovules. How many meiotic divisions will be needed to produce equal number of female gametophytes by this plant?

◆ Explanation -
During meiotic division in angiospermic plants, each megaspore produces 4 dilpoid nuclei (ovules).
Out of these, only 1 matures & rest 3 gets degenerated.

So each meiotic division will effectively produces only 1 viable ovule. Thus 88 meiotic divisions are required to produce 88 viable ovules.
