let x angle

and according to question

3x+20

so

3x+20+x=180
4x=160
x=40°✔

3x+20
=3×40+20
=140°✔
angles are 40°and 140°
hope it helps u

Given: An angle is 20 more than 3 times the given angle. The two angles are supplementary.

To find: The measure of the angles

Solution: Supplementary angles are a pair of angles which when added gives the sum as 180°.

Let the given angle be x.

Since the angle is 20 more than 3 times the given angle, therefore the measure of the larger angle

= 3x+20

Since these two angles are supplementary, therefore,

x + 3x+20 = 180

=> 4x+20 = 180

=> 4x = 180-20

=> 4x = 160

=> x = 160/4

=> x = 40

The smaller angle= 40°

The larger angle

= (3x+20)°

= (3×40+20)°

= (120+20)°

= 140°

Therefore, the angles are 40° and 140°.
