let the angle be x
then it's supplement=1/3x-40
ATQ
x+1/3x-40=180
3x + x - 120 \div 3 = 180
4x - 120 = 180 \times 3
4x - 120 = 540
4x = 540 + 120
4x = 660
x = 660 \div 4
x = 165
hence the angle and it's supplement are 165° and 15° respectively

Answer:

110 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

let x be the larger number

let x - 40 degrees will be the small number

x + x - 40 = 180

2x - 40 + 40 = 180 + 40

2x = 220

x = 110 degrees

x - 40 = 110 - 40 = 70 degrees
