Let its supplement be x.
Angle 1 = x
Angle 2 = 3x-40
The sum of supplementary angles is 180 degrees. Therefore -
x+3x-40=180
4x-40=180
4x=180+40
4x=220
x=220/4
x=55
Angle 1=x
=55 degrees
Angle 2=3x-40
=3*55-40
=165-40
=125
