An ant climbs up five stairs, each of width 20 cm and height 20 cm. Find the distance covered and displacement of ant.

Answer:

Distance = (20+20)×5 = 200 cm

Displacement = 100√2 cm

in this instead of width and height it's hypotenuse is taken into consideration.

therefore,

hypotenuse of 20cm width and 20cm height = 20√2cm

for 5 such stairs (20√2)×5 = 100√2cm.
