The time taken by Ant to reach the top = 30 hrs

Given:

An ant decides to climb a 30 feet wall.

It climbs up 3 feet every hour, but slides back down 2 feet.

To find:

How many hours does it take to reach the top of the wall

Solution:

Given length of the wall = 30 feet

Ant will climbs 3 feets every hour

then back down 2 feets

Then the distance moved by Ant in 1 hour = 3 - 2 = 1 feet

The time taken by Ant to climb 1 feet = 1 hr

Then the time taken by Ant to reach the top = 1 hr × 30 = 30 hrs

The time taken by Ant to reach the top = 30 hrs
