The ant travels a distance of 8 cm in a straight line from p to q and then moves 6 cm perpendicularly to the line pq.

Then the resultant displacement of the ant from p is the hypotenuse of the right angled triangle that is created by this movement.

Therefore, as per the mathematical formula, hypotenuse2 = 82 + 62 = 100.

Hence, the displacement of the ant = √100 = 10 cm, which is the longest side of a triangle.

Answer:

5m

Explanation:

As its a right angle triangle as given the side PR =13m and RQ=12m

then PQ will be the displacement of the ant.

Then by pythagoras theorem ,

PR^2 =RQ^2+PQ^2

=> 13^2-12^2=PQ^2

=>PQ=5m
