Diagram:-

Given:-

  • an ant is moving around a few food pieces of different shapes scattered on the floor.
  • circumferenceof a circle can be obtained by using the expressions c=2pie r is the radius of the circle.

To find:-

  • Find the food piece would the ant have to take a longer round. ...?

Solutions:-

(a). Radius (r) of semi circularpart = 2.8/2 cm

= 1.4cm

Perimeter of the given figure = 2.8cm + πr

= 2.8cm + (22/7 × 1.4)cm

= 2.8cm + (22 × 0.2)cm

= 2.8cm + 4.4cm

= 7.2cm

(b) Radius (r) of semi circularpart = 2.8/2 cm

= 1.4cm

Perimeter of the given figure = 1.5cm + 2.8cm + π(1.4cm)

= 5.8cm + 22/7 × 1.4cm

= 5.8cm + 22 × 0.2cm

= 5.8cm + 4.4cm

= 10.2cm

(c) Radius (r) of semi circularpart = 2.8/2 cm

= 1.4cm

Perimeter of the figure (c) = 2cm + πr + 2cm

= 4cm + 22/7 × (1.4cm)

= 4cm + 22 × 0.2cm

= 4cm + 4.4cm

= 8.4cm

hence, the ant be have to take a longer round for the food piece (b), become the perimeter of the figure in alternative (b) is the greatest among all.
