Firstly an ant travels a distance PQ( 8cm ) and then travelled ( 6cm ) from perpendicular direction of PQ.
Displacement :- Shortest distance travelled by an object.
Here, Shortest distance of an ant is hypotenuse(PR) of triangle ∆PQR.
As per Pythagoras Theorem..,
PR² = PQ² + QR²
PR² = 8² + 6²
PR² = 64 + 36
PR = √100.
PR = 10
So, Shortest distance is 10cm.
Hence displacement of an ant is 10cm.
