in stomach HCl is released which kills the germs and bacteria present in the food.This HCl is an acid.So when a person does not eat food this HCl acts on the inner lining of the stomach leading to acidity.An antacid tablet is abase which neutralizes the HCl acid .So it is taken by people who suffer from acidity.
