An archive lamp operates at 80 V, 10A. Suggest a method to use it with a 240 V d.c. source. Calculate the value of the electric component required for this purpose

Operating voltage of lamp,
V1=80V and operating at current, I1=10AHence, resistance of lamp, R1=V1I1=8010Ω=8Ω
Now,Voltage increased to V2=240V
Resistance required to supply 10A current, R2=24010=24Ω
Therefore, Resistance required, R=R2-R1=24-8=16Ω.
