Here , HCF of 104 and 96 gives the maximum number of columns in which the two groups can March.
So, on applying Euclid division algorithm,
a= bq+r
104 = 96× 1 + 8
96 = 8 × 12 + 0
Thus, HCF (104, 96) = 8
Hence, the maximum no.of columns in which they can march is 8.
