Answer: original army be x

x*90/100 *90/100 *90/100 = 729000

x = 100/90 *100/90 *100/90 *729000

x = 1000000

Hope it helps!

  • The original strength of the Army was 10,00,000.

Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose the Army has 100 men

Then number of the lost men = 10% of 100

 =  \frac{100}{100}  \times 10 \\  = 10

Remainder = 90

Men died due to disease = 10% of 90

 =  \frac{90}{100}  \times 10 \\  = 9

Now Remainder = 90 - 9 = 81

Men declared disabled = 10% of 81

 =  \frac{81}{100}  \times 10 \\ =  8.1

Remainder = 81 - 8.1 = 72.9

If the reduced strength is 72.9,original strength = 100

If the reduced strength is 729000,original strength

 =  \frac{100}{72.9}  \times 729000 = 1000000
