Given:  An article is available for ₹ 1500 inclusive of 10 % VAT.

To Find:  the list price.

What will be its price if the rate of VAT changes to 15 %

Solution:

Let say List Price  =  X  Rs

10% VAT = (10/100)X = 0.1X  Rs

Price Inclusive of VAT = X + 0.1X  = 1.1 X   RS

1.1X = 1500

=> X = 1500/1.1  = 1,363.64 Rs

Price with 15 % VAT = (1500/1.1) ( 1 + 15/100)

=  (1500/1.1) (1.15)

= 1,568.18 Rs
