Answer: In the above Question , the following information is given -

An article is sold at a loss of 20% .

There is a yield of rupees 60 more if they article is sold at a profit of 20% than at a loss of 20% .

To find -

Find the cost price of the article .

Solution -

Let us initially assume that the cost price of the article is Rs. x .

Now ,

What will be the SP when the article is sold at a loss of 20 % ?

=> [ 80 % of x ]

What will be the SP when the article is sold at a gain of 20 % ?

=> [ 120% of x ] .

According the the question -

There is a yield of rupees 60 more if they article is sold at a profit of 20% than at a loss of 20% .

We can state this mathematically as -

[ 120% of x ] - [ 80 % of x ] = 60

=> 1.2 x - 0.8 x = 60

=> 0.4 x = 60

=> x = Rs. 150

Thus , the cost price of the article is Rs. 150 .
